Mike Silenzi

Hockey Director

Phone: 847-878-6858

My name is Mike Silenzi. I am the Hockey Director for the Northern Express Hockey Association. I have many years of experience as a head coach (house, travel & central states), skills instructor, hockey director, and learn to skate instructor. I am very excited to meet the challenge of helping this organization reach the next level. Our goal is to become one of the most respected travel programs in the area. To achieve our goal, every family must be proud to be a part of this organization. They must understand and appreciate the added value we bring and for each player to have fun and develop during the hockey season. The experience must be enjoyable and rewarding for the entire family as well.

As Hockey Director, one of my goals is to improve communication. I am looking forward to meeting the new players to the organization and I’m excited to get the season started. One of my duties will be to help the travel coaches raise the bar with practices focusing on skill development. By developing individual and team skills, we will raise the level of play for each team. My expectations are for every player to have a great experience, improve their hockey skills and promote life lessons and personal qualities that are uniquely suited to playing hockey (friendship, teamwork, dedication, hard work, discipline, respect, success, failure, etc...). I know for a fact that players improve with great practices, great coaching and competition. Our coaches are highly qualified and look forward to these challenges and are very excited for this coming season. I will be working with our coaching staff to promote coaching education and development and to implement consistent teaching and philosophy at all levels.

While my primary responsibility will be to the travel program, I will also work with the Park District, as well as other local house programs to aid in the transition of players from the house programs to the travel program. Our travel program cannot flourish without a strong and well populated house program based on fun and skill development. As stated, effective communication at all levels is essential to our success. I will continue to work very hard to keep the communication with parents as open as possible. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

I look forward to a successful 2011-12 season.
