As the Northern Express Hockey Club continues to place player development as a top priority, we are excited to announce that as of the 2022-2023 Season the coaching staff will have access to the Catapult Thunder Video System. Used at professional, collegiate and amateur levels, this system helps capture game film for the purposes of instruction and player development.
The organization is preparing for the upcoming season by training our staff on how to implement this technology at their respective levels.
"With this system teams will have access to a pro-quality video analysis system, which will allow our coaches to teach the game more effectively. Players today are visual learners, and the abstract X’s and O’s on a whiteboard can only go so far. Weekly analysis sessions will undoubtedly improve performance and give our players a leg up as we compete against the best Tier 2 teams in the country", Jordan Mann,Squirt Major CSDHL Head Coach.
As technology continues to provide solutions for hockey teams and players, exploring these options is no easy task. Midget U15 Head Coach, Rob Rosmis who is in charge of training the staff further adds, "The coaching environment at the youth level has become stale, and not much has changed over the years when it comes to teaching the game. We are going to solve this at the Express. We chose this system, not because it's used at the higher levels, but because this system allows coaches to catalog very specific parts of their team's play and use it for instructional purposes which is an invaluable asset for player development."
There's a lot of excitement amongst the coaching staff for the upcoming season. With several new tools and resources, we look forward to helping our players get one step closer to their hockey goals.
